Recently I upgraded from a DSLR to a Canon R6ii, I acquired a second hand 24-105 F4L with the R6ii. However, whilst used to the the EF version of this lens on a DSLR, I found the lens a little too heavy for travelling and wanted a lighter alternative. I purchased the 28-70 F2.8 STM and I’ve delighted with this lens. It has fixed aperture which I always prefer and whilst it is not “L” grade, has weather sealing so it is a good all-rounder in terms in focal length, aperture and weight. It is an ideal walk-around lens and would likely would be great also on smaller R body cameras. For travel, I also have the 16mm f2.8 STM so all in a relatively light package to cover many needs whilst travelling. Definitely a great contender for those who cannot afford the F2.8L version of this lens. However I am still keeping the 24-105 F4L as this lens also has its merits but it is the only RF “L” version I will continue to use.
